This species was collected by Rodrigo Escobar (#8002) in Department Tolima, Colombia, Los Túneles (a small town), carretera a Tapias (along the road to Tapias), alrededores de Ibagué (in the surroundings of Ibagué, the capital of the Department). The plant flowered in cultivation at the Botanischer Garten München, Nymphenburg.
